Xiaomi’s ‘DeshKaPhone’ has finally launched with Redmi 5A

Xiaomi has finally launched its Redmi 5A in India with a tagline ‘DeshKaPhone’. This smartphone is exclusively available only on Flipkart and marked as the cheapest smartphone by Xiaomi. Xiaomi takes this smartphone price as an introductory price at Rs. 4,999 which will be drawn after selling 50 lakh units. After that introductory offer, the actual price of this smartphone will be Rs. 5,999, same as the Redmi 4A price.

There are some few upgrades found on Redmi 5A as compared to Redmi 4A but still, those are the best upgrades. This device comes with a metal back instead of polycarbonate. The company has introduced an 8-day battery life with the new Redmi 5A. Xiaomi claims a 3000mAh battery that can standby up to 8 days, or 7hours of video playback. One of the biggest gripe with Xiaomi devices this year has been the hybrid sim slot. Xiaomi has given a dedicated microSD slot apart from the dual SIM slots.

Xiaomi 5A was already launched in China in October this year and it indicates that it will launch in India soon. Its china model has a hybrid SIM tray whereas the Redmi 5A India will ship with a dual SIM slot and a dedicated microSD slot. In Addition, Xiaomi is bringing a 3GB RAM/ 32GB ROM variant to India which is not available in China.

In some basic specs, The Redmi 5A comes with a 5-inch display at a resolution of 1280×720. It has the IPS LCD panel on the Redmi 5A that is a multitouch display with a pixel density of 296ppi. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 quad-core chipset clocked at 1.4GHZ coupled with Adreno 308 GPU. This device comes in two variants, one variant comes with 2GB RAM/16GB ROM and another variant comes with 3GB RAM/32GB ROM variant.

In Optics, it sports a rear camera of 13MP with an aperture of f/2.2 and some common features like HDR mode, panorama mode and burst mode. On the other hand, a 5MP front camera with a f/2.0 aperture. Optics seems as same as the older Redmi 4A has.

In connectivity options, Xiaomi has placed a dual SIM tray and a dedicated microSD card slot which can support up to 128GB. It has some basics connectivity options like Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1 and GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, BDS, and a 3.5mm audio jack. In the array of sensors, it has an accelerometer, a proximity sensor, an IR blaster (for universal remote) and ambient light sensor. The fingerprint sensor is skipped for this budget as same as Xiaomi does in older Redmi 4A.

It runs on Android 7.1 Nougat customised with MIUI 9 by Xiaomi. It is the latest Xiaomi software which some amazing features like IRCTC card, MI drop, Split screen and App vault.

However, the smartphone is good and also good in the budget for the first 50 lakh units. So, don’t be late because the stock is limited, just go and your one Redmi 5A.
